Specialist Dogs – Training Centre Ltd is a specialist Human Remains Detection training and consultancy provider based in Annan, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland.
The Training Centre was established to provide structured, welfare-led development for HRD dog and handler teams, combining practical search experience with theoretical education, professional standards and realistic training environments.
Our work focuses on developing capable teams rather than teaching isolated exercises. Training considers the complete picture: dog development, handler knowledge, scent behaviour, search strategy, land, building and water environments, safety, risk assessment, documentation, welfare and professional conduct.

Experience & Background
Specialist Dogs – Training Centre Ltd was developed from years of practical involvement in Human Remains Detection, specialist search dogs training and the development of dog and handler teams across a range of search environments.
That experience includes land, building and water-search training, search planning, operational preparation, assessment, handler development and the practical realities of working with specialist detection dogs in challenging environments.
The Training Centre also draws on experience gained through collaboration with search-dog organisations, instructors and professional partners in the UK and internationally. This helps ensure that training remains practical, current and connected to wider professional standards and search-dog practice.

The aim of the Training Centre is to turn practical experience into structured learning that handlers can understand, apply and develop over time.
Rather than separating dog work, handler knowledge, safety, search strategy and professional conduct into unrelated areas, our training brings these elements together as part of one complete HRD dog handler development process.

Our main training activity is based in Annan, Dumfries & Galloway, with access to varied environments suitable for Human Remains Detection training.
Training, workshops and consultancy can also be delivered elsewhere in the UK and internationally by arrangement, allowing us to work with established teams and organisations in environments relevant to their own requirements.
